Esther 6-10

Proverb 26:27 says "whoever digs a pit will fall into it". Of course the author is talking of the age old custom of capturing people or animals by digging a pit and then camouflaging it. Another way to say it would be "you will be caught in the trap you set for others". That's exactly what happened to Haman. Evil intent may allow a person to advance and flourish for a brief time, but it will never last. Contrast Haman's quest for power and recognition to Mordecai, who was content to keep even his relationship to the Queen a secret. He saved the King, and wasn't rewarded...but there is no record of protest. Mordecai didn't go home at night groaning about all the people who had wronged him, and how he planned to get even; but Haman did.
Haman's wife was right. Haman had picked up an offense against the Jewish people which would now lead to his downfall. The Bible also says "pride goes before a fall" and again, that's what happened to Haman. In pride he bragged about his plans, built a gallows and went early in the morning to see the King. All of these things worked against him.
God seems to enjoy rescuing His people from impending disaster..or, we don't ask of Him until it turns into a disaster.
From the account of Esther always remember four things:
1. God may have allowed you to be in the position you are because He has a purpose for you there.
2. Prayer and fasting are powerful tools in the life of a Christian.
3. Humility is always the better way forward. Pride clouds judgment.
4. No situation is so dire that God cannot use it to bring about glory for Himself, as well as good for you.
Blessings,
PR
